The Journey from Fabulous Dancing Dolls to Forever Dolls: A Class Act from 1969 to 2022
Reserve your FREE ticket today to celebrate the history and showmanship of the Forever Dolls through the decades at Capitol Park Museum on Friday, September 9, 6:00–9:00 p.m.
In 1969, eight Southern University students performed for the school’s football game against Texas Southern, starting a fifty-three-year tradition of talented Dancing Dolls at this Baton Rouge university. Join the Forever Dolls (as Dancing Dolls are known after graduation) and Capitol Park Museum in this celebration of history, culture, and showmanship throughout the decades. Meet the amazing women during our cocktail hour, listen to their stories, and explore our four exhibition spaces. After the program, view a 1990s Dancing Doll uniform in Capitol Park Museum’s Experiencing Louisiana: Discovering the Soul of America permanent exhibition. This is the perfect start to your weekend before heading to the Southern University–Louisiana State University football game on September 10.
