Michael Torregano began his piano studies at the age of 6, and would start on the saxophone at the age 12. It was at the Louis Armstrong Summer Jazz Camp where he would be introduced to jazz for the first time. By the time Michael entered high school he was accepted into the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) where he studied with legendary New Orleans musicians such as, Clyde Kerr Jr., Kent Jordan, and Alvin Batiste. At NOCCA he also had the opportunity to share the classroom and the stage with classmates Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews, and Jonathan Batiste.
