Teens and Adults Sensory Friendly Mardi Gras Celebration

Teen and adults with autism and developmental disabilities and their families are invited to the Louisiana State Museum to celebrate carnival in style! On Saturday, January 21, 2023, 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m., the Presbytère will close to the public to minimize crowds and exhibit noises. Trained educators and volunteers will help lead drop-in art activities and exploration of the exhibition Rex: The 150th Anniversary of the School of Design. Participants will meet float designers, create their own float flowers, hear carnival music from a brass band, and learn more about the instruments they use. Come create, dance, sing, and celebrate together. This program is free for the whole family, but registration is required. Please register here: https://forms.gle/seZ92xH3GNQZuTth7
This program is offered in partnership with the Louisiana Museum Foundation and made possible with generous support from First Horizon Bank. For more information, please contact Director of Education, Sara Lowenburg, at [email protected] or (504) 568-6980.
