Event Date: Friday, August 23, 2019

Opening August 23, 2019, at the Wedell-Williams Aviation and Cypress Sawmill Museum in Patterson, From Berwick Bay to Étouffée: Shrimping in Louisiana traces the history of the shrimp industry in St. Mary Parish.  The exhibition explores the shrimp boom of the 1930s and 1940s, when Morgan City was the self-proclaimed “Shrimp Capital of the World,” as well as the challenges that face contemporary shrimp fishermen. Many of the artifacts and images included in the exhibit come from the collection of F. C. “Butch” Felterman Jr., a native of Patterson and former shrimp boat owner and captain.

Join us Friday, August 23 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. as we celebrate this exhibition opening with a FREE reception including hors d’oeuvres & libations. Special thanks to the Louisiana Seafood Board and Wedell-Williams Aviation & Cypress Sawmill Foundation for making this event possible.
