Lunchtime Lagniappe: Shreveport’s Pioneer Heritage Center with Marty Young
Who were the pioneers who settled the northwest corner of Louisiana? Where did they come from? How did they live—and how did they adapt to life on the untamed frontier? Discover the answers to these questions and more with a visit to the Pioneer Heritage Center.
Established in 1977 as a joint project of LSU Shreveport and the Junior League of Shreveport, the Center features historic buildings, interpretive exhibits, and knowledgeable staff who guide visitors through structures that illuminate the region’s diverse cultural history, natural environment, and the daily lives of settlers from the 1830s to the 1930s.
Marty Young, Director of the Pioneer Heritage Center, oversees the museum’s daily operations, preservation efforts, and collections management. He also leads tours and presents engaging living history demonstrations for visitors of all ages.
This event is free and open to the public. Guests are welcome to bring their lunch and enjoy it while they listen and learn.
