Notes

Jansson copied Bleau's 1645 rendition of this map. In turn, Bleau used John Speed's 1611 map of Anglo Saxon Britain for source material. Unlike Bleau's version, this map includes compass lines in the surrounding ocean. Flanked by 14 vignettes depicting seven saxon kings on the left side of the map and the conversion to Christianity along the right side.
