From La. State library on-line biographical information (1/4/01), the work from which this map was taken was viewed as "a jaundiced view of Louisiana which aroused the ire of Creole Society. No mention is made of the amount of time he spent in Louisiana or that he stayed after his visit."

Plate 2 from Pierre-Louis Berquin-Duvallon's work, "Vue de la Colonie Espagnole du Mississipi."" Berquin-Duvallon, a native of Santo Domingo, came to Louisiana in 1800 and described his voyage up the Mississippi River.
