Right margin notes, "Given To (Or Drawn for) Miss Kate Tyler;" left margin notes, "Florence L. Smith, her daughter - H. Tyler Smith, her son." Booth's Records of Louisiana soldiers notes that de Baun, a major in Wingfield's Louisiana Cavalry, was captured at Port Hudson Jul 9, 1863, sent to New Orleans on the steamer Zephyr, Jul 13, 1863, was imprisoned in New York, Ohio, Maryland; then paroled until exchanged Mar 15, 1864; was on the Register of Prisoners of War paroled May 15, 1865. Age 42 years, resident of New Orleans, La.
