Notes

This is a Jan 26, 1872 copy. Sulakowski (1825-1873), a native of Poland, immigrated first to Houma, Louisaina, then in 1851, to New Orleans, where he worked as a civil engineer. He joined the Confederate Army during the Civil War, where he served as Chief Engineer under General John bankhead Magruder. In 1871 he was employed at the Unted States Land Office as a surveyor.
