The Friends of the Capitol Park Museum will host Flavors of Louisiana, a new culinary and cultural festival celebrating the rich traditions of Louisiana food, music, and community on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at the Capitol Park Museum in downtown Baton Rouge. The family-friendly event will bring together local chefs, home cooks, artisans, and community organizations for a vibrant day of flavor, fellowship, and cultural celebration.

Anchoring the festival is the high-energy “Anything Over Rice” Cook-Off, where both professional and amateur teams will compete in classic Louisiana categories including gumbo, red and white beans, stew, and jambalaya. Attendees will have the opportunity to sample dishes and vote for their favorites in the People’s Choice competition, while a panel of judges selects winners across divisions.

Beyond the cook-off, Flavors of Louisiana will feature live music and entertainment, a Louisiana Vendor Marketplace showcasing local businesses and artisans, family-friendly activities, and opportunities to experience the diverse cultural traditions that make Louisiana unique. Organizers expect hundreds of attendees from across the Baton Rouge region and beyond.

Proceeds from the festival will benefit the Friends of the Capitol Park Museum, supporting educational programming, exhibitions, and community initiatives that help preserve and share Louisiana’s history and culture. The event is part of the museum’s broader celebration of its 20th anniversary, marking two decades of storytelling, education, and cultural engagement in the state capital.

“Flavors of Louisiana is designed to bring people together around the traditions that define our state,” said Griffin Landry, President of the Friends of the Capitol Park Museum. “From the food on our tables to the music in our communities, Louisiana culture is something worth celebrating. This event allows us to showcase that spirit while also supporting the museum’s mission to keep Louisiana’s stories alive.”

Tickets, team registration, vendor applications, and sponsorship opportunities are currently available. Community members, local businesses, and culinary enthusiasts are encouraged to participate and be part of what organizers hope will become a signature annual event in Baton Rouge.
