This is a May 14, 1883, certified copy. Walter Brashear gave "Tiger Island" to his children in 1842. Brashear City was founded in 1860. This map depicts "Tiger Island," formerly a sugar plantation, after land subdivision. Official court clerk deposit copy, docketed on reverse, six 5-cent Louisiana Law stamps. Includes notation, "312 lots of ground will be sold by the Sheriff of St. Marys, Brashear City, on Monday 22nd May 1871, to close the Estate of the late Robert B. Brashear deceased." Area mapped bounded by Berwick's Bay, Front Street, Brashear Avenue, Adams Street, Sixth Street. Legal certification and revenue stamps on verso.
