Tiltle block notes, "The Union Irrigation Company absolutely controls the irrigation of more than 1,000,000 acres of the finest and most fertile lands to be found in any part of the United States upon which rice and all other staple crops can be produced every year, when irrigated, all of which lands can be irrigated from one point at Washington, La. with one plant under one management." The Union Irrigation Company's Southern Office was located in Opelousas, La; their eastern Office in Lancaster, Pa. Irrigation canals, proposed and constructed, are delineated in red.
