The predominant symbol in the title cartouche is the alligator. Other typical symbols for the Americas surround the remainder: a Brazilian feather crown lies alongside a quiver filled with bows, a beaver stands at the edge of a stream. Lush vegetation, including moss-draped cypress trees and waterfalls encircle the whole, thus conveying that America is a land of wealth and abundance.
