Original manuscript executed c. 1863. Includes notation, "Here the British Sloop of War, West Florida, commanded the Lakes and taken by the U. S. schooner-sloop Morris tendered by order of Oliver Pollack, the American agent, and [escorted?] by Cap[tain] W[illia]m Pickles in the month of October 1779 which prevented Gen[era]l Campbell [ ? ] at Pensacola from coming through the lakes to attack N[ew] Orleans at the time Gen[era]l Galvez marched from there with his army to attack the British Posts up the Mississippi. This capture was thought [ ? ] [ ? ] by those who were on the spot to be at least one of the principal events that secured that country to the Spanish Armies."
