Jesse Harrison Whitehurst

Whitehurst worked principally in Virginia, opening his first studio in Norfolk in 1843. By the early 1850s, he had galleries in Petersburg, Lynchburg, Richmond, Baltimore, Washington, and New York City. Although he took photographs of many Louisianans, there is no evidence he visited the state.
