William Phillip Spratling
American, 1900–1967
Trained as a painter at the Beaux Arts Institute in New York, Spratling taught architecture at Tulane University from 1922 to 1926. He moved to Mexico in 1927 and settled in the small town of Taxco, where he helped to revive the struggling silver industry and arts community.
